Still Remain

It’s been so long, I thought you were gone, forever.
But there only was, two nights of us, together.
You thought I forgot, but I could not, erase you.
And when you went, I wasn’t meant, to chase you.
The diggers of gold; they staked their claim,
You moved on,
and I still remain.

I never did get to explore behind those eyes.
There was no time for us to compromise.
And nobody knows, that you were the last, to take me.
‘Cause no-one since then’s,  been brave enough, to make me.
You travel to France; you travel to Spain,
Your world keeps turning;
And I, still remain,

Well maybe I, have made the great escape.
That to be with you, would have been a grave mistake.
And I don’t have to pretend, I hardly know you,
‘cause you never saw the things I wanted to show you.
And I’ve never expected, you to feel the same,
Your cool calm and collected.
And I still remain.
