Pebbles

I thought that I could run and hide, to the comfort of my favourite seaside,
That sea, sand and ice creams, would help me realise my dreams.
But summer doesn’t last for all the year, and life is not just bingo, chips and beer.
There’s only so much candyfloss you can eat.
And the pebbles on the beach, hurt my feet.

You said that this cannot go on, but you’ve been saying that all along,
And now I’ve finally proved you right, it’s time to kiss this thing goodbye.
They say that all good things, well they must end.
The cliché’s lose a lover, gain a friend.
And I know there’s a stone in every peach,
And the pebbles on the beach, hurt my feet.

I knew a man who could have been, but I watched him dying with his dreams,
How strange that it seems to be, the same fate could await me.
But I know that I must learn how to be strong;
Put my heart and soul in every song,
I won’t accept in failure or defeat,
Still the pebbles on the beach, hurt my feet.
