Nothing

 They shot off lines, like warning signs,
And I heard nothing
They bashed and crashed, like taxi cabs,
And I heard nothing.
 Never heard the lies they spoke,
 Or the punch line to their joke
I heard nothing.

They played their games, and staked their claims,
 And I saw nothing.
They shut their doors, plotted their wars,
And I saw nothing.
 Never saw the vultures, in the sky,
 Did not see the whites of their eyes,
 I saw nothing, nothing.

 But I heard them come, ‘cause they banged like drums;
 And I did nothing.
They kicked down the door, kicked me on the floor,
And I did nothing.
 I put up no defence,
Even though it makes no sense,
 I did nothing, nothing, nothing.

 Now they poke my bones, to test for pain,
 And I feel nothing.
And they stick their probes, inside my brain,
 And I feel nothing.
 Feel nothing but regret,
But I guess that’s what you get,
I feel nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing at all.
I feel nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing at all.
 I feel nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing.
